Microsoft Fabric Workshop

Get started with unified analytics on Microsoft Fabric.

Microsoft Fabric Data Engineering Power BI Analytics Azure

About this Workshop

Microsoft Fabric brings together data engineering, data warehousing and business intelligence in a single, unified platform. This workshop gives teams a practical introduction to the parts that matter most in early projects: organizing workspaces, designing a Lakehouse architecture, and building reliable Data Factory pipelines.

The workshop closes the loop with Power BI integration, showing how data flows from ingestion to a governed, reportable model - so teams leave with a working mental model of the platform rather than a list of disconnected features.

Designing the first governed Fabric workload

Participants work through a realistic analytics flow: source systems, ingestion, transformation, storage, semantic modelling and consumption. We discuss how OneLake, Lakehouse and Warehouse patterns relate, when notebooks or pipelines are appropriate, and how workspace structure supports ownership and controlled collaboration. The goal is to make architecture choices understandable before the platform grows around accidental defaults.

Hands-on exercises cover Data Factory pipelines, data quality checks, incremental loading and the handover from engineering to a Power BI semantic model. Governance is part of the discussion from the start: access, sensitivity, lifecycle, deployment and cost awareness are treated as design constraints rather than an afterthought.

The team leaves with a shared target architecture for an initial Microsoft Fabric use case, a list of platform decisions to validate and a delivery plan for moving from a proof of concept to a maintainable analytics product.
