We begin with the current engineering flow: repository topology, branch and pull-request policies, package feeds, environments, secrets, service connections, boards and release processes. This inventory prevents a common failure mode—moving YAML while losing the controls and knowledge around it. Participants map Azure Pipelines concepts to reusable GitHub Actions workflows, environments, OpenID Connect, protected branches and dependency automation.

The practical part uses representative repositories and pipelines. Teams design a target organization structure, permission model and migration waves, then work through pipeline conversion, caching, artifacts, approvals and secure cloud authentication. Where work tracking stays in Azure Boards or moves elsewhere, the workshop makes the integration boundaries explicit rather than assuming a one-size-fits-all toolchain.

The output is an actionable GitHub migration plan: a pilot scope, success criteria, ownership, rollback considerations and a rollout sequence. It equips platform teams to create a developer experience that is simpler to operate while maintaining enterprise-grade governance.
